Shirley Rae Ford

Obituary Shirley Rae (Crews) Ford was born March 18, 1940. She left us too soon on Friday, November 8, 2019 in Broken Arrow, OK. Shirley was born in Lucien, OK to Ethel Kirk and John Crews. She had a twin sister, Charlotte Lee. Shirley attended school in Perry. Shirley loved the outdoors and she loved anything to do with horses. She and her husband, L.D. raised and showed miniature horses and owned several racehorses. She loved being a snowbird in Texas and had many adventures there and numerous friends from all over the country. Shirley was married to John "Bud" Hefley in 1956 and later married L.D. Ford on May 9, 1973. Shirley raised 5 boys in the Tulsa area. Shirley was a fighter - a breast cancer survivor since 1994. She overcame many health issues and was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Kirk and John Crews; her husbands, L.D. Ford and John "Bud" Hefley; her brother, John F. Crews Jr.; her sister, JoAnn Dancer; and her step-daughter, Jennifer Emerson. Shirley is survived by her five sons, Terry Hefley of Broken Arrow, Darryl Hefley (Melanie) of Broken Arrow, Tracy Hefley (Amy) of Broken Arrow, Kevin Hefley (Lisa) of Broken Arrow, John A. Hefley (Katie) of Tulsa, and a special bonus son, Tory Vester of Tulsa; two sisters, Charlotte Fuentez of Stillwater and Carla Childs (Terry) of Tulsa; 24 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Services celebrating Shirley's life will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Rev. Brody Morris officiating.
