Rocco Schiraldi

Obituary Rocco Schiraldi 87, of Broken Arrow, passed from this life on January 22, 2018. He was born July 14, 1930 in New York City, to Michael and Anna (Tursi) Schiraldi. Rocco married Jean (Cortese) on June 15, 1957 in Ozone Park, NY. He honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Army. He was awarded medals for "Army of Occupation Medal Germany" and "National Defense Service Medal" during his time there. Rocco was also honored by the South Korean Government for his service an honor which he took great pride in. Rocco was an avid golfer and fisherman. He also enjoyed Big Band Music, watching western movies, reading (his favorite author was Zane Gray) and he enjoyed trivia games. Rocco has a great passion for journalism and dreamed of being a journalist. Rocco worked 30 years for Western Union, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and cared for him. Rocco is survived by his children, Roxann Smilnak and her husband Scott of Broken Arrow, Antonette Dinaro and her husband Salvatore of Rio Rancho, NM, and Steven Schiraldi and his wife Deborah of Brentwood, TN, grandchildren; Roberta Jean Smilnak and Ben Smilnak, both of Broken Arrow, Helen Smilnak and John Smilnak of Tulsa, Alla Smilnak of Nashville TN, Robert Dinaro and Marisa Dinaro, both of Rio rancho, NM. Bryan Schiraldi, Stephanie Schiraldi and Samantha Schiraldi, all of Brentwood, TN: siblings; Dominick Schiraldi, of Hollywood Florida, Tony Schiraldi, of Florida. Rocco is preceded in death by his wife Jean: siblings; Dora Carriero, Lena Gatti. Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
