Lillian Love

Obituary Lillian (Wilson) Love departed this life on August 15, 2018 and joined her heavenly family shortly after celebrating her 92nd birthday. Lillian was the fourth of six children born to Prote & Lenora (Oliver) Wilson on August 3, 1926 in Homer, LA. After the passing of her father, Prote, Lenora and her children continued to live in LA. Her mother knew the importance of education way back then, so she made arrangements with her sister-in-law in Camden, AR to help with the children. Other family members also assisted. They relocated the family from Homer to Red Bird, OK and they eventually moved to Coweta, OK. Lillian was placed in her Aunt Sis's care in Camden, where she began her early education along with attending St. James A.M.E. Church, where she also learned to play the piano. She loved sharing her fond childhood memories being there and her years spent in Camden. Later she reunited with the family in the Red Bird-Coweta area and attended Red Bird schools and graduated from Taft, OK. She met Edward Love, Sr. aka "Bott", a school bus driver. They married on May 20, 1947 and made their home in Coweta. Born to this union were three girls and three boys. Raising their six children in a loving and Christian home was very much her priority. She made sure her half dozen had all their basic needs. She also made sure they got to Sunday School and church on time by starting on Wednesday with the boys' haircuts by giving them a top-notch. The girls' hair was quite an ordeal too for her. She was an excellent seamstress, barber, hair stylist, and cook. We always looked forward to Sunday dinners. The entire family was very active in 4-H. She worked outside the home at different times doing day work, Tulsa Linens, Wagoner County Extension, Wagoner County Election Board, etc... all while caring for her family and fulfilling duties at her church, Wilson Chapel C.M.E. Church, named after her ancestors. She served faithfully in many capacities for more than sixty years until her health began to fail. She worked diligently as a missionary, stewardess, Sunday School secretary, treasurer, pianist, community choir member, wonderful cook, gardener, carpenter, etc... there was not much she would not tackle...very resourceful and self-taught. After Ed passed away August 14, 2002, Lillian had always been a very strong and active woman, but she began to be challenged and eventually required her children's 24/7 care. Lillian made her transition peacefully in her home on Wednesday afternoon, August 15, to be with the Lord. Preceding her in death were: Her parents, husband, Edward Love, Sr., sisters: Bertha, Mattie and Ruth, brothers: Daniel and James, nieces, nephews, and so many others. Lillian is survived by her six children: Theleasta B. Jones (Robert Washington) of Hampton, GA, Edward Jerry Love (JoAnn) of Wagoner, OK, Arthur Lee Love (Tonya) of Coweta, OK, Mercy D. Marshall-Johnson (Fred) of Broken Arrow, OK, Roger Love of Coweta, OK, and Eugenia Love of Oklahoma City, OK. Her ten grandchildren: Cheryl Washington-Carr (Michael) of Hampton, GA, Gerald Love of Muskogee, OK, Tyra Matthews of Snellville, GA, Corey Marshall (Dena) of Tulsa, OK, Shelly Love-Sheriff (Kenneth) of Loganville, GA, Donisha Love of Tulsa, OK, T.J. Love of Owasso, OK, Carlos Marshall (Shaleah) of Broken Arrow, OK, Curtis Marshall of Broken Arrow, OK and Jason Love (Gayla) of Dallas, TX. Her twenty great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Shirley Ann Wilson of Independence, MO along with many nieces and nephews. Lillian will always be remembered for her love for the Lord, her family, friends and the community. She showed love, compassion, and was willing to help whoever needed it. She had an extraordinary memory and was very observant. We all loved and will remember her humorous sayings and words of wisdom. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and so many others whose lives she touched. Although her passing has left a huge void in our hearts, her "Legacy of LOVE" will continue to live on in the Love Family.
