Jarid Newman

Obituary Jarid Boyd Newman, age 92, of Coweta passed away on April 4, 2010 at his home. He was born on October 15, 1917 to Boyd Andrew and Marion Ruth (Griffeth) Newman. Jarid was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family. He attended school in Belvidere, Illinois and graduated from high school in 1935. He then attended Rockford Business College. Jarid joined the United States Army on April 22, 1941 and was honorably discharged on November 24, 1945. He and Rachel Adeline Miles were united in marriage on October 24, 1941 in Belvidere, Ilinois. Jarid worked as a postman for the United State Postal Service for 17 years. He also worked as an accountant for Harms & Elliott CPA Firm, Belvidere Construction Company, Basin Marine Boats, and Greenleaf Park for 40 years. Jarid played the clarinet and had a love for music which he passed on to his three granddaughters. They were members of the Coweta Band from 1990 till 2005. He was a member of the 1929 National Championship band. He will be remembered for his devotion to his wife of 68 years, the great love he had for his family, his lifetime service to his church, and his great integrity and willingness to help others. Jarid is lovingly survived by his wife Rachel of the home; his two daughters, Nancy Keprta and her husband, Don, of Hinsdale, Illinois and Mary Sue Blair of Coweta, Oklahoma; his brother, George Fry of Oro Valley, Arizona; his three grandchildren, Jessica Griffith and her husband, Tra, Emily Wood and her husband, Gavin, and Melody Poverud and her husband, Nathan; his two great grandchildren, Sayde Griffith and Camdin Wood; numerous nieces and nephews. Jarid was preceded in death by parents, one son, and one sister. No local services are planned.
