Rev. James Andrew Wiles

Obituary James A. Wiles left his earthly body for his eternal home on February 22, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita, their children and spouses Juquita and Mike Feeley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Pam and Paul Robinson of Brenham, Texas; and Lowell Wiles and Paula Miller of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. James is also survived by two sisters (Wanda and Vera Mae) and a brother (Benny). Grandchildren and their spouses: Andy and Maggie Wiles, Joshua and Hilary Robinson, Charley and Ruth Feeley, David and Lesley Robinson, Caleb and Chelsea Feeley, Stephani and Chase Sanders, and Jessica Feeley. Great grandchildren: Cohen and Dylan Wiles, Ellis and Astrid Robinson, Clara Robinson, Aubrey, Brooklyn, and Charley Feeley, Beckett and Saylor Feeley, and Tucker and Piper Sanders. James “Andy” Wiles was born in Quinton, Oklahoma, on May 12, 1927, to Louie G. and Ruby Wiles and was the third of 10 children. He grew up in Polk County, Arkansas, before joining the Army Air Force at the beginning of what became a 21-year career in the military. He served his country during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam war. His military service took him to Greenland, Japan, the Philippine Islands, and to multiple US locations. After the military, “Brother Wiles” continued his life of service, serving as Pastor of Assembly of God churches in Arkansas and Texas before retiring in 1998 to move with Juanita to Tulsa to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Even in his final years, James continued to serve and minister to people, conducting worship services in the facility where he and Juanita lived. He liked people, and they liked him back. He was the best storyteller ever, and the memories of those cherished stories comfort his grandchildren and children. He loved learning and enjoyed conversation on almost any topic with friends, family, or strangers. He lived his faith, loved his family, and always kept a positive outlook. James will be laid to rest in Fort Gibson National Cemetery with full military honors on March 3, 2021 at 10 am.
